For Higher Philatelic Sales
This is NED ARMSTRONG. He is self employed and runs training
workshops for sales managers in 2 large organisations that he used
to work for. As a professional consultant he is a naturally confdent,
interesting and inquisitive person. He gets on very nicely with the
staff at his local Post Shop and he’s never shy from chatting about
his work and his family. Most of the staff there know that Ned is the
proud father of twin 11 year old boys. They’ve noticed the excitement
on his face when he tells them about some of the fascinating school
projects that he has helped his kids with that include web page
designs and more familiar favourites such as dinosaurs and space.
Today is his weekly visit to the PostShop to make sure that he stays
organised. Turn over to learn how to best mobilise and engage the
subject and execute the most appropriate procedure to help achieve
this month’s mission.

March Selling Tips Characterisation
The central characters in a strip story must have
enough expression to lead the reader through
the story. To help achieve consistency of
design, attitude and personality an expression
sheet is developed. Once the characters are
completed the final inked drawings take place,
which are then scanned into a computer. They
are then coloured and placed into their positions
following the story board layout along with the
integration of words, etc into the story panels.
This then creates an overall professional look
which keeps up the interest of staff who
participate in the program.

March Selling Tips Story Board
To begin with a story board must be
constructed to layout how the strip
story will appear eg 4, 6 or 8 panels,
also what subject matter to include
or leave out and what theming to
use eg xmas or express post etc.
Characters have to be developed
on a separate expression sheet
to depict their mannerisms to suit
the story, eg their look, emotions,
gestures.
Then the drawings for the story
board are started bearing in mind
what relationship they have to each
other and whether it is more
effective to stand the characters
alone in a panel or as part of a group
theme.
A good story board would contain
a variety of attitudes, gestures and
implied movement and personality
to portray what is happening in an
entertaining and informative way.
